Introducing NAT on OCI DRG: Solve Overlapping IP Addressing for Private Connectivity

Connecting networks becomes more complicated when they use the same private IP addresses. It’s a common customer challenge and resolving it can mean disruptive network changes.

OCI’s NAT on Dynamic Routing Gateway (DRG) helps address this.

It provides native, one-to-one IPv4 address translation, allowing networks with overlapping IP addresses to communicate without re-IP’ing existing environments.

The benefits of this are:

  • Less operational overhead – Reduce the need for separate appliances deployed solely for address translation purposes.
  • Flexible connectivity – Handle overlapping addresses across OCI virtual networks, regions, on-premises environments and multicloud connections, such as Azure, AWS and GCP!
  • No cost! – The capability is available in all commercial OCI regions at no additional cost.

NAT on DRG is particularly useful when existing IP addressing is difficult to change or multiple organisations need access to shared services.

By handling translation within the DRG, it helps teams simplify connectivity and keep migration and integration projects moving along.
